RECOMMENDATIONS
Whether you're a first-timer or a frequent visitor, we want to help you make the most of your time here. From exploring the bustling cities of Manila and Clark to relaxing on the stunning beaches of Boracay, this guide is full of our personal recommendations.
STAYING IN MANILA
If you’re staying in Manila, I recommend you book a stay at Shangri-La The Fort Manila and go around the central business district, Bonifacio Global City (BGC). Definitely take a day off to go around to shop, drink, and dine! Make sure to download the Grab transportation app to get by.
Going to the cultural route, get to know the Philippines, its history and architecture, through the National Museum and Intramuros area in Manila, the heart of the country. We did this entire itinerary on a random day in 2018. We had lunch at a Filipino-Spanish restaurant called Ilustrado Restaurant and had a pint at Plaza San Luis Complex. There you can find the Bambikes bike tour (book a bike tour here).
One of my favorite cities, however, is Makati City (the financial district). If you love coffee, check out Legazpi Village’s Yardstick Coffee, Deuces Coffee, and Panco Cafe. Within this area, these are brick and mortar fashion and art shops you can spot if you walk around. For lunch or dinner, our treasured dining place is Your Local (We had about 4 anniversary dates here). You can also try our other favorites like Wildflour, Nikkei, and Swagat. There are malls like Rockwell and Greenbelt in Makati City, but I suggest doing most of the shopping in BGC.
Quezon City, my hometown, is a bustling metropolitan (and the biggest city in the country) with too many to share about. If you’re planning to visit me, I can take you around or I can host a lovely dinner- your choice! Just message us!

STAYING IN CLARK PAMPANGA
Just 2 hours away from my house is the city of Clark in Pampanga, a northern suburb. I love how peaceful and spacious this city is (also how it’s closer to the wedding venue). Top 2 hotels I can vouch for are the Clark Mariott Hotel and Midori Clark Hotel & Casino. From the Clark International Airport, you can book a Grab car to these hotels, check-in, and explore the area. Top coffee spot for me is Porch Coffee located on the outskirts of the Clark Parade Grounds. As for food, Korean cuisine is the best in this area because there are a lot of Korean immigrants. My family’s go-to is Grill Seoul Korean BBQ. There’s definitely a lot more to see in this city, though!
SIDE TRIP TO ISLANDS
Keen on fully exploring the Philippines? After attending my wedding, you can visit the breath-taking beaches of El Nido and Boracay. Frankly, I haven’t been to El Nido but it is just a no brainer suggestion whether I’ve been there or not. For sure lots of information on it can be easily searched online. Boracay, however, is a place I’m very much familiar with. Here’s my ideal itinerary for you.
Land the beautiful island of Boracay via Caticlan Airport. I suggest you book a hotel or resort that has complimentary shuttle services (it’s going to be easier, trust me). There are 3 parts to the island- Station 1, Station 2, and Station 3. Make sure to choose a play to stay in Station 1 or Station 2 as Station 3 is more of a beach activity hub. A quick search on Google can give you the best spots to dine and shop; though the best thing to do is literally just be at the white sand beach. Personally, if you can spare a budget, I’d recommend staying at Station Zero- away from the noise and party life of Boracay. Shangri-La Boracay is my safe haven here- maybe allot at least 2 nights here.
I tried my best to encapsulate my home in just a few paragraphs but if you have any more questions, I can tailor an itinerary for you! Message us on socials.
